Lindsay Christinee Biography

Lindsay Christinee is an author, entrepreneur, and activist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Having spent years working in the fashion industry as a stylist and journalist, she became aware of the toxic effect clothes can have on our health and planet when she became pregnant with her first child. This sparked her passion to radically change her life and to inspire others to change theirs.

In 2018, Christinee stepped away from the fashion industry to focus on her passion- environmentalism and sustainability. Since then, her words have appeared in ReMake, Reader's Digest, Marketplace, Sierra Club, and more.

She also founded the sustainable lifestyle publication- The Wellness Feed which has interviewed 100+ brands - RCGD, Veja, Moon Juice, Kent, and more-to offer readers transparent interviews that share what it takes to be a sustainable brand and the obstacles faced in doing so.

Continuing her environmental advocacy, she has joined the boards of several local nonprofits to work on legislation for single-use plastic bans, led community events, and advocated for environmental justice for marginalized groups. It's a purpose-driven career that has led her around Philadelphia to speak at events, workshops, and schools about the climate change movement. But, while there is a lot of negative news out there, her work focuses on empowering and engaging people to be a part of the solution to climate change.

Lindsay Christinee Speaking Topics

  • Sustainable Lifestyle

We all make changes to our lifestyles every day. But are we making the right ones to benefit our environment in the long run? Sustainable is more than a buzzword. It is about making the conscious choice to make the best decision for our environment. Companies do it by choosing organic materials or supporting reforestation projects. We, as consumers, can learn how to consciously choose sustainable lifestyles by recognizing our impact and shifting our behavior to benefit the planet.

Lindsay will leave you and your team more knowledgeable about the right questions to ask to choose brands that actively make meaningful changes to benefit our planet and create a positive social impact.

    How can we:

    • Transform our everyday lifestyles to benefit the planet without feeling overwhelmed?
    • Identify the environmental and social issues that are most important to us so that we can choose to support the brands that match our ethos?
    • Stop focusing on doing things perfectly and start focusing on making small, lasting changes one step at a time?

  • Driving Businesses Toward SDGs

Today, successful businesses are aware of their environmental and social impact. There are exciting new opportunities to manage production in a way that effectively balances profit with making a positive impact. And to create trust with consumers, companies must also transparently communicate how their products are made and collaborate with the nonprofit sector to provide economic opportunities.

Transparency is the only way to avoid greenwashing, lost customer trust through unfulfilled claims, and succeed in an ever-competitive global market vying for the attention of a generation impassioned about spending their dollars on climate change solutions.

    How can we simultaneously:

    • Combine profit and impact to be a part of a new type of global economy that benefits all people, communities, and the planet?
    • Address the areas of the supply chain that need to be assessed? What standards need to be met to meet high social and environmental business standards?
    • Understand what’s in it for ALL? (teams, customers, stakeholders, and our ecosystem)

  • Climate Anxiety

According to a 2023 study from Yale, 64% of Americans worry about global warming. So, how do we effectively engage the next generation and empower them with hope for a better future?

Lindsay will inspire students to acknowledge the problems of climate change while empowering them to understand that there are steps they can take to be a part of the solution. When we understand our power, we are inspired to take action to make a positive change.

    How can we:

    • Read climate change news and reset and calm our nervous system?
    • Focus on what we can control?
    • Educate ourselves on steps we can take now to minimize our impact on the environment?
    • Connect with and support others through advocacy or environmental organizations?

  • Single-Use Plastics

Around the world, all successful plans that reduce CO2 emissions include a ban on single-use plastics. These bans are happening more often • countries like Kenya, Thailand, and Australia are taking the lead on plastic bag bans as local governments worldwide have outlawed single-use plastic bags and packaging. Yet, in order to create the opportunity to reduce single-use plastic use, the alternatives must be readily available on the market.

In this session, Lindsay shares the impact of single-use plastic bags and the potential these bans have for reducing pollution, fossil fuels, and greenhouse gas emissions. She'll also explain the alternatives• bringing a bag to a grocery store to innovative solutions like bioplastics.

    How can we:

    • Less than 10% of plastic created since the 1960s has been recycled. What can we learn from this to fight against plastic pollution?
    • How are companies reducing single-use plastic? How are governments reducing single-use plastic?
    • What are the solutions offered today instead of single-use plastic? What innovative solutions will be available on the mass market in the future?

  • Environmental Injustice

On Earth Day 2023, President Biden signed an executive order to prioritize environmental justice• the grassroots solution to mitigate climate change that ensures that all groups of people are involved in conversations about environmental policies so that innovative solutions can be reached that incorporate the best outcomes for our society as a whole.

As our global society faces challenges to mitigate climate change, how can we empower and embrace the voices ( African Americans, immigrant garment workers, and low-income communities) that face the worst impacts from years of discriminatory policies? Because just like a team, it's important that everyone in our society• nationally and globally• is engaged and thrives whatever their ethnicity, economic or educational background. As Biden stated about environmental justice, "It's only about the future of our planet."

    Defining questions of our time:

    • What is the history of environmental injustice, and how has it impacted our society today?
    • Why does environmental injustice matter? How does it impact me as an individual? How does it impact my community?
    • What are the solutions to environmental injustice? What can I do today?
