According to a 2023 study from Yale, 64% of Americans worry about global warming. So, how do we effectively engage the next generation and empower them with hope for a better future?

Lindsay will inspire students to acknowledge the problems of climate change while empowering them to understand that there are steps they can take to be a part of the solution. When we understand our power, we are inspired to take action to make a positive change.

Single-Use Plastics

Around the world, all successful plans that reduce CO2 emissions include a ban on single-use plastics. These bans are happening more often • countries like Kenya, Thailand, and Australia are taking the lead on plastic bag bans as local governments worldwide have outlawed single-use plastic bags and packaging. Yet, in order to create the opportunity to reduce single-use plastic use, the alternatives must be readily available on the market.

In this session, Lindsay shares the impact of single-use plastic bags and the potential these bans have for reducing pollution, fossil fuels, and greenhouse gas emissions. She'll also explain the alternatives• bringing a bag to a grocery store to innovative solutions like bioplastics.

• Less than 10% of plastic created since the 1960s has been recycled. What can we learn from this to fight against plastic pollution?

Environmental Injustice

On Earth Day 2023, President Biden signed an executive order to prioritize environmental justice• the grassroots solution to mitigate climate change that ensures that all groups of people are involved in conversations about environmental policies so that innovative solutions can be reached that incorporate the best outcomes for our society as a whole.

As our global society faces challenges to mitigate climate change, how can we empower and embrace the voices ( African Americans, immigrant garment workers, and low-income communities) that face the worst impacts from years of discriminatory policies? Because just like a team, it's important that everyone in our society• nationally and globally• is engaged and thrives whatever their ethnicity, economic or educational background. As Biden stated about environmental justice, "It's only about the future of our planet."
