Kaleo Kanahele Biography
Kaleo Kanahele Maclay began training with the Paralympic Sitting Volleyball team in 2009 at just 12 years old. Since then, she has become a 2-time Paralympic medalist. Kanahele-Maclay started playing standing volleyball when she was 9 years old starting for a club called Oklahoma Peak Performance 12s team. Kanahele and the Paralympic Sitting Volleyball Team are set to compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. In 2014, she was named Female Sitting Team Player of the Year by USA Volleyball.
Kanahele was born with a club foot and received a tenotomy at 9 months old where pins were placed through her toe and heel bones, which left her with limited calf flexibility and muscle.
Kanahele currently owns two small businesses — Flower & Flour which is a brick-and-mortar coffee, bakery, and flower shop located in downtown Oklahoma City, and Cookies by Kaleo, selling custom decorated cookies. Kanahele has been married to her husband Matt Maclay since 2016 and together they have a son, Duke.
