Carolyn E. Mosby Biography

Carolyn E. Mosby is an executive, author, and motivational speaker whose career spans more than three decades across corporate America, government, the entertainment industry, and the nonprofit sector. She has worked in a range of industries, including government, telecommunications, steel, natural gas, water, technology, human services, and minority business development. Mosby's background as a chief marketing officer for a global nonprofit and corporate vice president with expertise in public relations, marketing, and communications has positioned her as a consultant in these fields.

As a consultant, Mosby has represented public figures, politicians, athletes, actors, entertainers, corporations, and not-for-profit organizations, advising on public relations, crisis communications, marketing, and governmental and community affairs.

Before her executive leadership roles in the nonprofit sector, Mosby served as chief marketing officer for Kiwanis International, where she provided strategic leadership for global marketing, branding, and communications, and was the first African American executive in the organization's history. She also served as vice president of marketing communications for the largest public-private water partnership in North America. Mosby later concluded an 11-year tenure as president and CEO of the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council, an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, where she introduced a diverse-owned business accelerator program and fostered $19.1 billion in economic impact across three states through collaborations between minority businesses and major corporations.

During her time as president and CEO, Mosby led a three-state restructuring of her organization, expanding from Indiana to include Central Illinois and Eastern Missouri. One of her key partnerships was through the Indianapolis Minority Business Development Agency, which was named the top MBDA Center in the nation by the U.S. Department of Commerce, creating 1,000 jobs and more than $330 million in contracting opportunities. She also established the Accelerate 100+ program, which scaled 150 existing diverse businesses and created 30 new ones. Her contributions to minority business development have earned her recognition, including the first Vanguard Award from the National Minority Supplier Development Council for outstanding leadership by a regional council president, recognition as a Small Business Influencer, and inclusion as a Top 25 Woman in Power Impacting Diversity in DiversityPlus Magazine.

Mosby is the author of the autobiography "Unflappable," published by IBJ Publishing. Co-written with Lisa D. DeNeal, the book documents the first 40 years of her life, introducing readers to her coming-of-age story in an honest and sometimes humorous voice. She has been featured in Black Enterprise, JET, Hope for Women, Indiana Minority Business, and Indianapolis Woman magazines. Mosby founded Resilient Lens Studios, dedicated to creative expression, empowerment, and community engagement.

As a public and motivational speaker, Mosby has addressed audiences as large as 4,000. Her messages span women's empowerment and leadership, diversity, minority business development, family history and ancestral lineage for Black History Month, marketing, public relations, and communications. Her commitment to community service is evident in her roles on numerous boards of directors, including two terms as chairman of the board for Indiana Black Expo, Inc., where she was the youngest chairman in the organization's history. Among her honors, Mosby was recognized with a Women of Influence Award presented by the Indianapolis Business Journal. Her career, grounded in a legacy of breaking barriers and driving economic empowerment, positions her as an authoritative voice in business development, diversity, and leadership.
