The Cool Kids Biography

The Cool Kids are an American hip hop group based in Chicago, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan consisting of rappers Antoine “Sir Michael Rocks” Reed (originally from Matteson, Illinois), Evan “Chuck Inglish” Ingersoll (originally from Mount Clemens, Michigan) and closely affiliated with 10ille.

The members of The Cool Kids met in 2005 when Reed found a beat on MySpace that Ingersoll had produced. The two met to discuss terms of the beat's sale, and eventually ended up recording together. Inspired by golden age hip hop and artists like Eric B. & Rakim, Ingersoll began promoting the new duo's material.

In 2008 their EP, The Bake Sale, was released via C.A.K.E., Chocolate Ind. and XL Recordings. It reached #15 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and #8 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. The group's mixtape, Gone Fishing was released in 2009. Another mixtape titled Tacklebox came out in 2010.

The Cool Kids' debut album, When Fish Ride Bicycles, was issued in 2011 by Green Label Sound Records. The album featured production from Ingersoll, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes and Travis Barker, along with appearances from Bun B, Ghostface Killah, Travis Barker, and Asher Roth.

The duo announced their split in 2012. On April 25, 2015, member Mikey Rocks took to Twitter to address the consistent questions about a possible reunion, saying they were "never coming back." However, fellow member Chuck Inglish announced the duo were getting back together on July 13, 2016. The Cool Kids released Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe in September 2017.
