Erika Alexander Biography
Erika Alexander is an American actress, writer, producer, entrepreneur, and activist whose career spans four decades in television, film, and media. Alexander received her breakthrough role as Pamela Tucker on the sitcom "The Cosby Show." She later starred as attorney Maxine Shaw in the Fox sitcom "Living Single," a role she played for five years. Alexander's portrayal of Shaw, a sharp-witted attorney, contributed to the show's status as a cultural touchstone for its depiction of independent Black women. For this role, Alexander won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.
Alexander's film career includes roles in "30 Years to Life," "Déjà Vu," and the horror film "Get Out," where she played Detective Latoya. Her television work includes portraying Linda Diggs in the Hulu series "Wu-Tang: An American Saga" and appearing in "American Fiction," for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance. Alexander has also appeared in Oscar-winning films such as "Get Out" and "American Fiction," BAFTA winner "Earth Mama," and "Is God Is." She plays Monica, Reggie's ex-wife and agent, on the NBC series "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins."
Beyond acting, Alexander is a creator and producer. As co-founder of Color Farm Media and board member of VoteRunLead and One Fair Wage, she works to advance equity, inclusion, and diverse representation in media, technology, and electoral politics. Her company develops and produces scripted and non-scripted content for film, television, streaming, and podcast platforms. Color Farm Media's project "John Lewis: Good Trouble" won the NAACP Award for Best Documentary and was nominated for three Emmy Awards. Alexander also created and co-wrote the Dupont Columbia Award-winning Audible true-crime series "Finding Tamika."
Alexander's writing credits include co-creating the sci-fi series "Concrete Park," published by Dark Horse, and co-writing the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off graphic novel "Giles" in collaboration with Joss Whedon and Dark Horse. Her multifaceted career in entertainment, media production, and activism highlights her commitment to storytelling that drives social impact and representation in American culture.
