Lil Jon is a Grammy Award-winning rapper, record producer, and DJ from Atlanta, Georgia. Recognized as a key figure in the development of crunk, a high-energy subgenre of hip-hop that blends Southern rap with heavy bass and chant-driven hooks, Lil Jon played an instrumental role in the genre's commercial rise. Early in his career, he collaborated with Jermaine Dupri and served as an A&R executive at So So Def Recordings before establishing his own path in the music industry. Smith founded the group Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz with Big Sam and Lil Bo, pioneering the crunk sound and shaping the direction of Southern hip-hop.

Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz gained recognition with their debut album "Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album," followed by "Put Yo Hood Up" and "Kings of Crunk." The single "Get Low," featuring the Ying Yang Twins, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and brought mainstream attention to the group.
