Matt Walsh Biography

Matt Walsh is an actor, comedian, and writer who notably co-founded the influential improv group Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) in the early 1990s with Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, and Matt Besser. UCB became a major force in the comedy world, with its members going on to create a popular sketch comedy show on Comedy Central that ran from 1998 to 2000. Walsh's involvement with UCB positioned him as a key player in the comedy scene and helped propel numerous comedians' careers.

Walsh gained widespread recognition for his role as Mike McLintock, the clumsy yet likable press secretary on the critically acclaimed HBO series "Veep." His performance earned him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He has appeared in various films such as "Road Trip," "Bad Santa," "The Hangover," "The Do-Over," "Unplugging," and "The Good Half" and has made regular appearances in comedy sketches on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and MTV's "Human Giant." He has acted in several movies directed by Todd Phillips, including the famed "Ghostbusters" and "A Futile and Stupid Gesture." He has also had recurring roles on the NBC comedy series "Outsourced" and the HBO comedy series "Hung." He has had guest appearances on numerous television shows, such as "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "The Daily Show," and has lent his voice to "Rick and Morty," "American Dad!," and "Star Trek: Lower Decks."

Not only limited to acting, Walsh has continued to contribute to the comedy community as a director, writer, podcaster, and screenwriter. He co-wrote and directed the indie-comedy film "High Road" and co-wrote his second film, "A Better You," with Brian Huskey. He has co-hosted the podcast "Bear Down" with comedian Scot Armstrong and now co-hosts the "Veep" rewatch podcast "Second in Command" with co-star Timothy Simons.
