Olivia Hallisey Biography

Before she won the grand prize at the 2015 Google Science Fair, Olivia Hallisey was just another Greenwich High School student with a research project to complete. She was drawn, like people the world over, to the gruesome Ebola virus gripping West Africa, killing people by the thousands. She determined early diagnosis was critical to arresting the epidemic’s exponential growth, and developed a novel diagnostic Ebola test, the “Ebola Assay Card” (EAC). The EAC is inexpensive, rapid, and visual, indicating results through a color change, eliminating language barriers, and increasing ease of use.

Hallisey was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2015 International Google Science Fair for her research. TIME Magazine selected her as one of the "Thirty Most Influential Teens of 2015," the World Economic Forum cited her as one of "Four Girls Who are Changing the World" and she was recognized by the Rodale Company on their list of the "Rodale 100 - as one of the 100 People, Products, Companies and Organizations Positively Impacting our World." She was recently honored to be selected as a presenter at the White House Science Fair.

Hallisey is currently an analyst at General Atlantic and focuses on investments in the firm’s Life Sciences sector. Before joining General Atlantic is 2022, she received her M.S and B.S from Stanford University in Management Science and Engineering.
