Authenticity is the foundation of country music, and often, is the most vital element of an artist’s success and longevity. Sherwood, Arkansas native David Adam Byrnes is rooted in the kind of tradition that audiences can’t deny.
It’s in David Adam's genuine southern drawl, his natural gravitation toward a loud, rowdy honky-tonk stage – it’s in the unmistakable sincerity of his lyrics. With strong pride for his country and a loving devotion to his family, this good ole’ boy from The Natural State is just that – natural – and is poised to make a lasting impression on country music.
Byrnes heard the call of Music City as a teenager. While classmates were preoccupied with dating and partying, the aspiring star was honing his performance and writing skills - etching out a unique sound of his own that pays homage to heroes like George Jones, Keith Whitley, Merle Haggard, and King George Strait. Hard work’s fruition arose on graduation day when Byrnes opened for one of the world’s honky-tonk masters, Hank Williams Jr., which inevitably mapped-out and fueled Byrnes’ journey to Nashville, Tennessee.
“My ‘running away’ wasn’t as dramatic as a handkerchief tied to a stick heading down the road with my thumb out, or sneaking out a window, but it was a well-planned secret. I was playing a restaurant ‘residency’ back home and made the announcement to the crowd (where my parents, friends and family were seated) at the end of the show by saying ‘Goodnight! So long! I’m goin’ to Nashville!’ My parents’ mouths dropped to the floor - I figured if I told them in public, I’d be less likely to get a serious tongue-lashing!”
Soon after arriving, Byrnes’ talents landed him his first publishing/artist deal with Better Angels Music Group. Former CEO Rob Rappaport discovered Byrnes, and produced what became the young star’s debut full-length album, Premium Country.
“Rob really pushed me. He helped me to be open minded in combining the music of yesteryear with the progressions of style we see in the music of today,” Byrnes said. “Being signed with Better Angels is like being part of a family and we all have one common thread—the passion for a great song.”
The record’s flirtatious lead-off single, “Sweet Distraction” (Josh Thompson/Andi Zack), was released in late 2010 to select digital outlets and ranks as the highest charting debut indie single of 2010 (Country Breakout Chart).
Fast-forward to 2015 and Byrnes’ devotion to his craft is as razor-sharp as ever. A staple of the Jäger Tour, he’s already opened for Chris Young, Mark Chesnutt, David Nail, Colt Ford, Justin Moore, and Thompson Square.
Working hand-in-hand with manager Billy Holland and some of Nashville’s finest songwriting talent, Byrnes has just released a new single "Alcoholiday" a song that’ll not only validate years of tireless touring and recording, but also, will prove to the masses that he’s here to stay.
