Charlie Hurt Biography

Charles Hurt is a journalist, political commentator, and author with a career spanning more than two decades covering Washington politics. Hurt serves as the opinion editor of The Washington Times and co-host of "Fox & Friends Weekend." He is recognized for his conservative perspective and analysis in American political discourse.

Hurt began his journalism career in Chatham, Virginia, publishing the Gilmer Gazette as a child. While attending Hampden-Sydney College, he gained experience at Danville Register & Bee, Richmond Times-Dispatch, and St. Louis Post-Dispatch. After graduating, Hurt joined The Detroit News, where he worked during a major labor strike. He later moved to Washington, D.C., covering the U.S. Congress as a reporter for The Washington Times before joining the New York Post as D.C. bureau chief and news columnist, focusing on the White House.

Hurt has held roles as Washington, D.C. bureau chief and White House correspondent for the New York Post and editor at Drudge Report. He was named opinion editor of The Washington Times and has co-written a series about the Detroit Fire Department. Hurt received the Roy W. Howard Award for public service and reporting.

Fox named Hurt co-host of "Fox & Friends Weekend," joining Rachel Campos-Duffy. During the Trump presidency, Hurt analyzed media coverage of the administration, drawing on his experience in newspapers, political reporting, and his background in rural America. His book, "Still Winning: Why America Went All In on Donald Trump — and Why We Must Do It Again," explores the appeal of Trump's 2016 election and his connection with a segment of the American electorate. Hurt remains a prominent figure in conservative media, known for his reporting and editorial commentary on U.S. politics and media analysis.
