Glenn Beck Biography

Glenn Beck is conservative political commentator, radio host, television producer and conspiracy theorist. He is the CEO, founder, and owner of Mercury Radio Arts, the parent company of his television and radio network TheBlaze. A 2008 Marconi Radio Award winner, Beck is the host and star of the nationally syndicated radio talk show, "The Glenn Beck Show," heard on over 300 stations and syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks. The daily discussion is focused on the news of the day - politics, society and current affairs. Beck hosts the "Glenn Beck" television program, which ran from January 2006 to October 2008 on HLN, from January 2009 to June 2011 on the Fox News Channel and currently airs on TheBlaze. Beck has also authored six New York Times–bestselling books.

In April 2011, Beck announced that he would "transition off of his daily program" on Fox News, but would continue to team with Fox. In 2012, The Hollywood Reporter named Beck on its Digital Power Fifty list. Beck launched TheBlaze in 2011 after leaving Fox News.

Glenn Beck made his radio debut at the age of 13 in Seattle, and grew up in nearby Mount Vernon. After graduating high school, he secured jobs as a Top 40 DJ at stations from Baltimore and Houston to Phoenix and New Haven, CT. Unfortunately, at the age of 30, Beck lost his passion for radio and everything else as he was consumed by alcoholism and drug addiction. It was only after he came to terms with his past and remained sober that his life found a new direction. Beck discovered new love (his second wife, Tania), religion (he was baptized Mormon), and a new vision of his career he would pursue talk radio.

After his sobriety and life reversal, Beck received a call from an agent interested in representing him. Only days later, he received an offer to host his own talk radio show on WFLA-AM in Tampa, Florida. Despite inheriting the 18th placed position, his new program landed the #1 position in his first year. Within 18 months, Premiere Radio Networks, America's leading radio syndication company, offered Glenn a national syndication opportunity. In January 2002, "The Glenn Beck Program" debuted on 47 stations. Today, the show is heard on over 300 stations and on XM satellite Radio.

In 2011, Beck founded the non-profit organization Mercury One, which is designed to sustain itself through its entrepreneurship without the need for grants or donations. In early 2011, Beck began work toward developing a clothing line to be sold to benefit the charity. In July 2014, after tens of thousands of undocumented immigrant children crossed into Texas via the Southern United States Border, unaccompanied by parents, Beck, along with Texas senator Ted Cruz, and Texas representative Louie Gohmert, traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border with his charity organization Mercury One with tractor trailers full of food, hot meals, and teddy bears for the unaccompanied minors. While Beck and Cruz both made it clear in interviews that they wanted a full repeal of DACA, Beck also noted his belief in the importance of helping children caught in "political crossfire." As of 2017, Beck's "The Nazarene Fund" had reportedly relocated 10,524 Christian refugees from northern Iraq and Syria to other host countries.
