Molly Bloom Biography

Molly Bloom is an entrepreneur, bestselling author, and keynote speaker known for her transition from competitive skiing to organizing high-stakes poker games. Bloom was a member of the U.S. Ski Team, ranked third nationally in moguls, until a crash during a qualifying run ended her athletic career. She completed a political science degree at the University of Colorado and considered law school before moving to Los Angeles for a sabbatical.

Bloom's memoir, "Molly's Game," details her progression from college student to Los Angeles waitress to operator of one of the largest private poker games in the world. These games included hundreds of millions of dollars and attracted celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Alex Rodriguez, and Ben Affleck. Known in the media as the Poker Princess, Bloom later organized games in New York. She declined to cooperate with authorities against her former clients, a decision that protected the privacy of many high-profile individuals. Bloom was charged with running an illegal poker game in New York and, after pleading guilty, received probation, a fine, community service, and forfeiture of funds.

Following her legal case, Bloom published "Molly's Game," which recounts her experiences in the exclusive gambling scene. The memoir was adapted into the film "Molly's Game," starring Jessica Chastain and directed by Aaron Sorkin. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay.
