Business Speaker Stanley Druckenmiller is an American hedge fund manager who is the former chairman and president of Duquesne Capital. He was born in born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended school at Bowdoin College where he graduated with a degree in economics. Druckenmiller then attended the University of Michigan for a graduate program in economics but dropped out after he was offered a position as an oil analyst for Pittsburgh National Bank.
Druckenmiller eventually became head of PNB’s equity research group but left the company in 1981 to start his own firm Duquesne Capital Management. Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s he was a consultant for many different hedge funds including George Soros’ Quantum Fund. After the tech bubble burst Druckenmiller spent most of his time working for Duquesne Capital Management. By the time he closed the fund in 2010 it was worth an estimated $12 billion.
According to Forbes Stanley Druckenmiller is worth an approximant $2.5 billion making him the 149th richest person in America. The billionaire donates a portion of his fortune to charitable causes, especially those involving medical research, education and poverty.
