Phillipa Soo

Phillipa Soo is an actress and singer best known for originating the role of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in Broadway’s acclaimed musical “Hamilton.” Her performance earned her the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Lead Actress in a Musical during the show’s Off-Broadway run and a 2016 Tony Award nomination. She also received a 2021 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for the filmed version of Hamilton, which premiered on Disney+.

On television, Soo appears in Hulu’s “Dopesick” opposite Michael Keaton and Kaitlyn Dever, and in Apple TV+’s “Shining Girls,” portraying Jin-Sook alongside Elisabeth Moss, Wagner Moura and Jamie Bell. She also stars in the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “One True Loves” with Simu Liu and Luke Bracey.

Soo’s film and voice work include Netflix’s animated feature “Over the Moon,” Disney+’s “The One and Only Ivan,” and the Selena Gomez-produced “The Broken Hearts Gallery.” She made her feature film debut in “Here and Now” opposite Sarah Jessica Parker.

On stage, Soo has performed in the world premiere of Shaina Taub’s musical “Suffs” at The Public Theater, starred as Cinderella in “Into the Woods” on Broadway, and appeared opposite Uma Thurman in the play “The Parisian Woman.” She also played the title role in the Broadway musical “Amelie.” Soo is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Drama.
