Oona Chaplin

Oona Chaplin is a Screen Actors Guild Award-nominated actress, known internationally for her work on film and television in the U.S., the UK, and Spain. She is perhaps most well known for her work on "Game of Thrones" as Talisa Maegyr, and has appeared all over British television from "Sherlock" to "Black Mirror" and most recently starred in the mini-series "Treason" about an MI6 agent. Chaplin’s career spans many countries, thanks to her Spanish and English background. She is well-known in Spain for her role in films like "Purgatorio, ¿Para qué sirve un oso?" among other independent films.

She is the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin and the great-granddaughter of American playwright Eugene O'Neill; her mother is celebrated actress Geraldine Chaplin and her father is Chilean cinematographer Patricio Castilla. As a child, she was an avid performer in both theater and dance, and was inspired to become an actress thanks to her mother. She toured the United Kingdom doing Shakespeare before adulthood, and was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) where she studied drama seriously. After college, she has appeared in numerous films in both the English and Spanish languages, and has worked alongside her mother in many short and feature films. She came into fame through her work on the BBC, where she played a love interest to main character John Watson in the network’s acclaimed "Sherlock" adaptation. She played a series regular on "Game of Thrones" as the secret wife of Robb Stark, and had a starring role in the BBC drama "The Crimson Field." In 2017, she played the sister of Tom Hardy’s James Delaney in "Taboo."

Chaplin has been announced as a central character in the next three movies of the five-part "Avatar" saga, directed by James Cameron. She will be the Na’vi leader of the Ash people, who will play a pivotal role in the films’ ongoing conflict.
