Nick Offerman

Nick Offerman is an actor, comedian, writer, and craftsman whose career spans theater, television, film, and publishing. Offerman earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and began his career in Chicago theater, co-founding Defiant Theatre and working with companies such as Steppenwolf, Goodman, and Wisdom Bridge. In addition to performing, he contributed as a fight choreographer and master carpenter, integrating physical craftsmanship with stage performance.

Offerman gained national recognition for his role as Ron Swanson, the director of the Parks Department in the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation." The role earned him the Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy and nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Offerman later co-hosted and executive produced NBC's "Making It" with Amy Poehler, earning multiple Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Host.

Offerman's television work includes a performance in the FX anthology "Fargo," which earned a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination, and appearances in the FX on Hulu miniseries "Pam & Tommy." His dramatic work in the HBO series "The Last of Us" as Bill in the episode "Long, Long Time" earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Offerman's film credits include "The Founder," "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl," "Hearts Beat Loud," and "Civil War." He received an Emmy nomination for portraying Chester A. Arthur in the Netflix limited series "Death by Lightning" and played a former wrestler and recovering addict in the Apple TV+ dramedy "Margo's Got Money Troubles." Offerman earned an Emmy nomination for both of his performances.

As an author, Offerman has written several books, including "Paddle Your Own Canoe," "Gumption," and "Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop," which explore themes of craftsmanship, self-reliance, and American culture. His stand-up specials and live tours, such as "American Ham" and the "Big Woodchuck" tour, showcase his humor and advocacy for hands-on living. Offerman also appeared at Goodman Theatre in the musical comedy "Iceboy! Or the Completely Untrue Story of How Eugene O'Neill Came to Write The Iceman Cometh."
