Matthew Goode

Matthew Goode is an English actor known for his versatility across film and television. He made his screen debut in 2002 with the ABC television film “Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister” and gained early attention in the romantic comedy “Chasing Liberty,” which earned him a Teen Choice Award nomination. His breakout performances came with roles such as Charles Ryder in Julian Jarrold’s adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s “Brideshead Revisited” and as Ozymandias in the neo-noir superhero film “Watchmen.” Goode went on to star in the romantic comedy “Leap Year” and the Australian drama “Burning Man,” with the latter earning him a nomination for Best Actor at the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards.

In addition to his film work, Goode has built a strong career in television. He played Henry Talbot in the final season of the acclaimed historical drama “Downton Abbey” and portrayed attorney Finley “Finn” Polmar in the CBS legal drama “The Good Wife.” In 2017, he earned wide recognition for his portrayal of Antony Armstrong-Jones, later Lord Snowdon, in the Netflix biographical drama “The Crown.” He also starred in the Sky adaptation of Deborah Harkness’ fantasy trilogy “A Discovery of Witches,” playing the enigmatic vampire Matthew Clairmont.

Goode has continued to expand his career with a balance of film and television projects. He appeared in the dark comedy “Silent Night,” the heist drama “The Duke,” and starred in the Paramount+ limited series “The Offer,” portraying legendary producer Robert Evans.

Most recently, he has taken on a leading role in Netflix’s crime drama “Dept. Q,” adapted from Jussi Adler-Olsen’s bestselling novels.
