MacKenzie Porter

MacKenzie Porter is a Canadian country singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actress known for her contributions to contemporary country music and her work in television and film. Porter began studying violin, piano, and vocals at age 4 and toured in a family band with her brother, Kalan Porter. After relocating to Vancouver to pursue acting, Porter launched her solo music career and won the Nashville North Star competition. In Nashville, she developed a country style that blends traditional influences with modern elements, collaborating with songwriters such as Nicolle Galyon, Craig Wiseman, Natalie Hemby, and Tommy English.

Porter's recording career began with her self-titled debut album and a Rising Star nomination from the Canadian Country Music Association. She achieved a major breakthrough with the single "About You," produced by Joey Moi, which became her first Canadian Country chart-topper. Porter became the first female artist in 22 years to have three consecutive No. 1 singles at Canadian country radio with "About You," "These Days," and "Seeing Other People," following Shania Twain. She also earned a crossover Top 10 at Canadian pop radio with "These Days (Remix)." Porter was recognized as one of CMT's Next Women of Country.

Porter gained international recognition with her U.S. No. 1, six-week chart-topping collaboration with Dustin Lynch, "Thinking 'Bout You." She was the only female nominated for Favorite Country Song at the American Music Awards in her category and has received multiple nominations from the Canadian Country Music Association, American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, CMT Awards, and JUNO Awards. Porter has earned numerous CCMA nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Musical Collaboration of the Year.

"Nobody's Born with a Broken Heart" is Porter's second studio album, released on Big Loud Records. The album features tracks such as "Pickup," "Chasing Tornadoes," "Bet You Break My Heart," and "Have Your Beer," exploring themes of heartbreak and personal growth. The album debuted in the Top 25 on the New Artist Albums chart, accumulated significant global streams, and reached the Top 5 on the all-genre chart in Canada.

In addition to her music career, Porter has appeared in films and television productions including "Dinosapien," "Hell on Wheels," and "Travelers." She is recognized for her leading role as a medic in the series "Travelers." Porter also co-hosted the Canadian Country Music Association Awards with Thomas Rhett and performed during the broadcast. She formed the folk duo Thelma & James with her husband, Jake Etheridge, releasing songs such as "Happy Ever After You" and "First Love." Porter continues to be recognized for her achievements in country music and acting, maintaining a presence in both industries.
