Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong'o is an Academy Award®-winning actress, producer and New York Times bestselling author known for her powerful and dynamic work in Marvel’s "Black Panther" franchise, Jordan Peele’s "Us" and for her feature debut in Steve McQueen’s Best Picture Oscar winner, "12 Years a Slave," for which she received the Oscar, SAG Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Spirit Award and NAACP Image Award for supporting actress.

An in-demand actress, Nyong’o will co-star in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," an adaptation of the eponymous epic poem by Homer. The film is set to release in theaters July 17, 2026.

In 2016, she earned a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut, in Danai Gurira’s play "Eclipsed." In the summer of 2025, Nyong’o returned to the stage as Viola alongside Peter Dinklage, Sandra Oh, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Junior Nyong'o in Shakespeare in the Park's "Twelfth Night," directed by Tony®-nominated Saheem Ali.

Her Webby and Signal Award-winning original storytelling podcast Mind Your Own explores themes of belonging, from an African perspective.

Nyong’o recently partnered with Foundation for Women’s Health to fund a research grant to accelerate the development of non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments for uterine fibroids, a debilitating and often overlooked disease. A passionate advocate for social justice, diversity, and representation in the entertainment industry, she is a vocal supporter of the Time’s Up movement, which seeks to end harassment and discrimination against women in the workplace, and uses her platform to speak out against colorism and promote self-love, especially for people of African descent. In 2019, she published a children’s book titled "Sulwe", which explores themes of self-acceptance and celebrates the beauty of dark skin. The book became a bestseller and was praised for its empowering message and beautiful illustrations.
