Laura Archuleta

Laura Archuleta is the president and CEO of Jamboree Housing Corporation, a California-based nonprofit focused on developing, acquiring, renovating, and managing affordable housing throughout the state. Archuleta holds a master's degree in public administration from California State University, Fullerton, and has extensive experience serving on boards such as the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation Board of Governors, and the California Housing Consortium. When Archuleta joined Jamboree as assistant director, the organization had three employees. Within two years, she became CEO, guiding Jamboree's growth in affordable housing development and management.

Under Archuleta's leadership, Jamboree has become one of California's largest nonprofit housing organizations. The organization's portfolio has grown to $3.2 billion, providing homes for more than 20,000 residents, including low-income families, seniors, transitional age youth, and individuals with special needs. Archuleta has played a key role in advancing long-term solutions to the housing crisis through collaboration with nonprofit organizations, public-sector agencies, and private companies. Jamboree's developments include motel conversions for formerly homeless residents and permanent supportive housing for veterans, with partnerships spanning cities, churches, healthcare systems, and major employers.

Archuleta has emphasized that housing alone is not sufficient, leading Jamboree to establish an in-house Resident Services Group that supports learning, healthy living, and community building. With a focus on serving populations such as homeless veterans and individuals living with mental illness, Archuleta has guided Jamboree in forming partnerships with healthcare organizations to address the needs of unhoused populations. She has articulated the principle that "housing is health care," which has influenced Jamboree's approach to affordable housing and supportive services.

Archuleta's work has been recognized across the housing and business sectors. Her honors include the Ralph Kennedy Award at the Affordable Housing Awards, the Vision & Visionary Award from Cal State Fullerton, the Veterans & Small Business Award from the Orange County Black Chamber of Commerce, and induction into the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame. She has been named to the Orange County Register's 100 Most Influential list and received the SPIRE Award for Superior Performance for a Woman in Commercial Real Estate from Commercial Real Estate Women Orange County. Archuleta's story is featured in the book "Women Community Leaders and Their Impact as Global Changemakers," and she has served as a speaker at Northeastern University's International Women's Day celebration.

Archuleta's commitment to affordable housing is informed by personal experience, including her mother's background in public housing and her family's resilience. Before joining Jamboree, she held several public sector positions and has contributed to the production and preservation of more than 10,000 homes for low-income families, seniors, veterans, and transitional age youth. Archuleta continues to be a leading voice in affordable housing policy, community development, and the intersection of housing and health.
