Ed Helms

Ed Helms is an American actor, comedian, writer, and musician whose career spans television, film, animation, and live performance. Helms first gained national attention as a correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," where he contributed field reports and hosted segments such as "Digital Watch," "Ad Nauseam," and "Mark Your Calendar."

Helms rose to greater prominence as a cast member of the NBC mockumentary "The Office," playing paper salesman Andy Bernard. The role highlighted his musical abilities as a banjo player and singer, with his character often performing songs. Helms expanded his film career by co-starring in the comedy "The Hangover" alongside Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Justin Bartha. He reprised his role as Stuart Price in "The Hangover Part II" and "The Hangover Part III," with all three films achieving box office success.

Helms has appeared in a range of dramatic and comedic films, including "Cedar Rapids," "Jeff, Who Lives at Home," "We're the Millers," "Vacation," "Chappaquiddick," "A Futile and Stupid Gesture," "Tag," and "Together Together." His voice acting credits include animated features such as "Everyone's Hero," "Monsters vs. Aliens," "The Lorax," "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie," and "Ron's Gone Wrong." On television, Helms co-created the Peacock sitcom "Rutherford Falls" with Sierra Teller Ornelas and Michael Schur. He has received multiple Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, winning for his work on "The Office."

In addition to his work in film and television, Helms is active in the music industry. He is a member of the bluegrass band The Lonesome Trio with Ian Riggs and Jacob Tilove, and regularly performs bluegrass music on guitar, banjo, and piano. Helms co-presents the L.A. Bluegrass Situation, an annual festival featuring bluegrass and Americana performances. In the entertainment business, he launched the production company Pacific Electric Picture Co. with producing partner Michael Falbo. Helms also hosts the podcast "Snafu with Ed Helms" and is the author of the book "SNAFU: The Definitive Guide to History's Greatest Screwups."

Helms is involved in advocacy and philanthropy, working with organizations such as Malaria No More and serving on the advisory board for Education Through Music-LA, as well as on the board of trustees for Oberlin College. He has delivered commencement speeches, including at the University of Virginia. Helms' career encompasses comedy, drama, music, and advocacy, reflecting a broad range of work across the entertainment industry.
