Dustin Poirier

Dustin Poirier is a retired mixed martial artist known for his achievements in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight division. Competing professionally across the Featherweight and Lightweight divisions, Poirier compiled a career record of 30-10 with one no contest. He captured the interim UFC Lightweight Championship and challenged for the undisputed lightweight title against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev. Poirier's early career in Louisiana's regional mixed martial arts scene was featured in the documentary "Fightville." After signing with World Extreme Cagefighting and transitioning to UFC, he became recognized for his dynamic fighting style and consistent performances.

Poirier secured victories over prominent mixed martial artists, including Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway, Dan Hooker and Michael Chandler. His trilogy bouts with McGregor are among the highest-selling pay-per-view events in UFC history. Poirier is noted for his boxing skills, shifting punching style and resilience inside the Octagon. He is tied for the most Fight of the Night awards in UFC history with 10 and ranks among the leaders in career knockout victories. Poirier retired with the fifth-most wins in UFC history at 22.

Poirier's final fight took place at UFC 318 in New Orleans, where he faced Holloway in a trilogy bout for the BMF title, losing by unanimous decision. He was accompanied to the Octagon by rapper Lil Wayne and exited to Frank Sinatra's "My Way." Following his retirement, Poirier transitioned to a career as an MMA analyst and commentator for UFC.

Outside the Octagon, Poirier is known for his philanthropic work. He and his wife founded the Good Fight Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting underserved communities. The foundation has contributed to causes such as addressing the water crisis in Uganda and organizing annual Thanksgiving food drives and back-to-school supply giveaways in Lafayette, Louisiana. Poirier received the UFC's Forrest Griffin Community Award for his charitable work and was honored with a key to the city of Lafayette. His business ventures include a Cajun hot sauce brand, Poirier's Louisiana Style, and a bourbon label, Rare Stash. Poirier's career is marked by his contributions to mixed martial arts, philanthropy and entrepreneurship.
