Damian Lewis

Damian Lewis is a British actor and musician known for his versatility and ability to portray American characters in film, television, and theater. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Lewis joined the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon and later performed in London, establishing a strong foundation in stage acting. His theater career gained momentum with his performance as Laertes in the Royal Shakespeare Company London production of "Hamlet," which later moved to Broadway.

While working with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Lewis was cast by director Steven Spielberg as Richard Winters in the HBO/BBC miniseries "Band of Brothers." His work in this series earned him a Golden Globe nomination and other industry recognition. Lewis's portrayal of Soames Forsyte in "The Forsyte Saga" increased his profile in the United Kingdom. He achieved further recognition for his role as Sergeant Nicholas Brody in Showtime's "Homeland," a series centered on national security and counterterrorism. His performance in "Homeland" earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Lewis received additional nominations for his role as Henry VIII in "Wolf Hall" and portrayed Bobby Axelrod in the Showtime series "Billions" for six seasons. He also appeared in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" as Steve McQueen. Lewis reprised the role of Henry VIII in the BBC/PBS miniseries "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light," earning a BAFTA Television Award nomination for Supporting Actor. He has been recognized for his contributions to the arts with appointments as Officer and Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

In addition to his acting career, Lewis is active in the music industry. He has written songs with London-based musicians and released the album "Mission Creep," which features a blend of jazz and blues influences, including original compositions and select covers. Lewis narrated the documentary "Orwell: 2+2=5," directed by Raoul Peck, and starred in the period comedy "Fackham Hall" as Lord Davenport.
