Caitriona Balfe

Caitríona Balfe is an Irish actress, producer, and former fashion model known for her work in film and television. Before transitioning to acting, Balfe spent a decade as a fashion model, walking runways and appearing in campaigns for brands such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs. She studied acting at Warner Loughlin Studios and the Sanford Meisner Center in Los Angeles before securing early film roles in "Super 8," "Now You See Me," and "Escape Plan."

Balfe's breakout role came as Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser in the Starz historical drama series "Outlander," based on Diana Gabaldon's novels. Over multiple seasons, she portrayed a mid-twentieth-century nurse transported to the eighteenth-century Scottish Highlands. Her performance earned four Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama, multiple Saturn Awards, a Scottish BAFTA, and an Irish Film and Television Award. Balfe also made her directorial debut during the show's final season.

In addition to her television work, Balfe has appeared in films including "Money Monster," directed by Jodie Foster, and "Ford v Ferrari," a sports drama nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Her role in Kenneth Branagh's film "Belfast" led to nominations for the BAFTA, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Balfe has also starred in the action thriller "The Amateur" from 20th Century Studios. Her upcoming projects include roles in "Tenzing" for Apple Original Films, a new adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" directed by Georgia Oakley, and "The Housekeeper."

Outside of her acting and film production work, Balfe is involved in philanthropy as a patron of World Child Cancer and has participated in fundraising initiatives, including running the London Marathon. She has also inspired a global reforestation initiative that has resulted in the planting of more than 217,000 trees worldwide.
