Sandra Lindsay Biography
Sandra Lindsay and her six siblings were born and raised in Jamaica by their grandparents, who instilled in them the value of hard work, education, and community service. To follow her childhood dream of becoming a nurse, she moved to the U.S. in 1986 and seven years later graduated from Borough of Manhattan Community College as valedictorian of her nursing program. In 1994, she joined the team at Northwell Health's Lenox Hill Hospital as a registered nurse in the oncology department. After three years in this specialty, Ms. Lindsay completed further training and education to successfully achieve her goal of becoming a critical-care nurse. After serving as nurse manager for the adult medical intensive care unit at Lenox Hill Hospital for more than seven years, she was promoted to director—a position she has held since 2016.
On December 14, 2020, Ms. Lindsay became the first person in the U.S. to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
Sandra Lindsay lives in Port Washington, Long Island, where she lives close to her son and one-year-old grandson, Avery. When not busy working or spoiling Avery, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and practicing Transcendental Meditation.
