 Ken Loach Biography

Ken Loach is a British TV and film director. Loach's socialist ideals and socially critical principles are apparent in his films including 1967's Poor Cow, 1966's Cathy Come Home, 1991's Riff-Raff and 2001's The Navigators.

Two of Loach's films, I, Daniel Blake and The Wind That Shakes the Barley have won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. When Loach won his second Palme d'Or for I, Daniel Blake in 2016, he became the ninth filmmaker to earn that coveted award twice.

While his films have only occasionally been entered into the Venice and Berlin Film Festivals, he has won both of their lifetime achievement awards, the Honorary Golden Lion (1994) and the Honorary Golden Bear (2014).

In 2016, Loach won the BAFTA for Best British Film with I, Daniel Blake.
