He has had huge success as one-fourth of the chart-topping, Grammy-award winning R&B group 112. But now Quinnes Q Parker is ready. Hes more than ready to show the world that he is a super-talented songwriter and performer, capable of standing on his own as a solo artist.

Music has been part of the Atlanta natives DNA since he was a child. I grew up singing in the church and in the school chorus, says Q. I was also in the Atlanta Boy Choir and we toured Europe when I was only 10 years-old. It was during high school that Q was discovered, along with Marvin Slim Scandrick, Michael Keith, and Daron Jones, by producers Tim and Bob, who presented them to P. Diddy. The group eventually signed to Bad Records and enjoyed mega success, cranking out hit after hit, until disbanding in 2007.

But Q is back. Now hes on his own with his solo debut. His album, The MANual, will be released in late October by his production and artist development company, NeWFam Entertainment and Malaco Records, one of the largest independent labels in the U.S. The album features collaborations with some of the industrys finest: Faith Evans, Styles P. from the The Lox, and Crystal Nicole. Producers on the album include Chuck Harmony, Kendrick Dean, Carvin and Ivan, Oak, DeWayne Nesmith of The Corna Boyz, Warryn Campbell, Selasi, Mandobeats, and Adrian Porter. The album will show the evolution of Q Parker as an artist, and of course, as a man, hence the title. Earlier this year, Q released a popular mixtape series, Qgasms: Chapter One and Qgasms: Chapter Two Prelude to The MANual to give folks a taste of whats in store with this debut album.

For years Ive just been one-fourth of the video, one-fourth of the show, and one-fourth of the interview. And when youre part of a group, people tend to only have a partial perception of you, Q explains. So this is an opportunity for people to really get to know me as an individual, an artist, a producer, and a songwriter. This solo album is an introduction for people to know who Q Parker is.

With the first two singles Show You How and YES, along with tracks like Two of Us (featuring Faith Evans) and Completely The MANual showcases Qs trademark romantic side (he was, after all, the sexy, charismatic ladies man of 112) and will serve as a conversation he says he needs to have with women . The songs on the album are timeless, classic and full of substance, he says. The album serves as a manual, a how-to-guide for women to learn how they should be treated and for men to know how to treat them. It will give an inside scoop on how women should be approached, talked to and respected. The album will show how intimacy and chivalry arent dead. There are still some gentlemen out there.

Its quite obvious that Q, who has written for Kelly Price, Pink, New Edition, Mase, Aaliyah, Keyshia Cole, and most recently Tyrese (One Night), has a genuine love for his craft. He is one of those artists who meticulously analyzes and dissects every element of music, and it shows brilliantly in his own work. I have a great appreciation for music, we speak the same language, he says. I get her and she gets me. We have an unspoken connection.

Music may be Qs first love, but he is also on his way to becoming a leading fitness specialist. A few years ago, he released a health and wellness calendar full of clever nutritional tips and effective exercises and recently shot an exciting 2013 version of the calendar. He is currently taking classes to become a certified personal trainer and is determined to make people understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. I did the calendar because as a nation, we got to get more health conscious. This is really important to me. When you think about the rise in obesity among black children, weve got to instill the importance of eating right and exercising in themespecially because theyre our future. He plans to release another calendar and eventually become a certified fitness trainer.

Q is also a philanthropist with a huge heart. Hes in the early stages of planning and solidifying infrastructure for his charity, Q Parker Cares Foundation, which will focus on fitness and health for children, as well the importance and significance of keeping music in schools. He also plans to create a mentoring program and a music summer camp for kids. My foundation will be devoted to keeping kids physically, mentally, and creatively strong through fitness, healthy eating, and exposure to music, Q says. Any way that I can give my time and my resources to help others, I will. Any way that I can use my brand and my expertise to give back, Im all for it. Hes also participated in various walks, campaigns and events for autism, cancer, and Alzheimers.

In addition to giving back to the community, Q is also a huge proponent of giving back to up-and-coming artists. In addition to being a production company, NeWFam Entertainment also focuses on shaping the careers of new talent. A lot of todays artists are missing the simple development they need to compete at a level that they need to. I provide hands on experience to help vocally prepare artists, he says. I can just see the difference between when 112 came into the game and now. Its like night and day. I believe a lot of the kids arent given a fair shot to be successful. Before 112 came out we spent almost two years rehearsing and vocal and media training. We learned what it took to perform in front of a crowd.

And hes still performing, doing shows around the country to promote The MANual and for the first time in sixth years, touring with all the members of 112. The group will be headlining shows overseas this winter, proving that the 112 brand has been accepted all over world. But now its time for the world to also know Q Parker, the solo artist. The MAN.

I have a great work ethic. I believe that whatever you put into something is what youre going to get back, he says. So Im willing to put all of me into everything I do. Five years from now I can guarantee that Q Parker will be a mainstay. The skys the limit for me. Get ready for Q Parker.
