The Royals have posted a 126-163 (.436) record since he took the reins.

Pre-Royals Managerial Career Managed the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003 before being relieved of his duties on September 15, 2008...compiled a 457-502 mark as the Brewers skipper...named as the Milwaukee manager on October 29, 2002 ... Turned the Brewers around after going 68-94 in his first season in 2003...steadily increased the win total and led the club to a 83-79 record and a second-place finish in the N.L. Central in 2007, marking Milwaukee¡¦s first winning season since 1992 ... The Brewers were 83-67 in 2008 when he was dismissed and on their way to winning the N.L. Wild Card, the Brewers first playoff appearance since their World Series campaign in 1982, when Ned was a catcher on the club ... Was a member of Tony La Russa¡¦s 2005 National League All-Star coaching staff.

Coaching Career Prior to his managerial time with the Brewers, Yost spent 12 seasons on the Major League staff of the Atlanta Braves from 1991-2002...the Braves won their division in each of Yost¡¦s seasons on the staff with the exception of the strike-shortened 1994 campaign ... Yost served future Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox as the bullpen coach from 1991-1998 and then as the third base coach from 1999-2002 ... Joined the Braves organization after retiring as a player following the 1987 season...he managed for three seasons in the Atlanta system at Class A Sumter in the South Atlantic League, accumulating a 197-223 (.469) record.

Playing Career Selected by the New York Mets in the first round (7th overall) in the secondary phase of the June 1974 draft...he was originally selected by the Montreal Expos in the second round of the January 1974 draft, but did not sign ... Was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Mets organization in the 1977 Rule 5 draft ... A catcher, he played for part of six seasons in the Majors with the Brewers (1980-83), Rangers (1984) and Expos (1985), batting .212 with 15 doubles, 4 triples, 16 home runs, 64 RBI and 54 runs in 219 games ... Was a member of the 1982 American League Champion Milwaukee Brewers, appearing in one game of the World Series against the Cardinals and walking in his only plate appearance ... Traded by the Brewers with LHP Dan Scarpetta on December 8, 1983 to the Rangers for catcher Jim Sundberg.
