Brian Unger Biography
Brian Unger began his broadcasting career at WOUB, a public radio station in his native Ohio. He then headed east to New York City and an internship on NBC's Late Night with David Letterman. Unger worked behind the scenes for Maury Povich and later for Connie Chung's news magazine program, Eye to Eye, where he was bitten by the journalism bug. Unger devoted the next three years of his life to making fun of TV news as part of the original team that launched the award-winning The Daily Show on Comedy Central. As a correspondent and producer, he helped to pioneer the series' satirical news reports on politics, people and news events.
Unger spent several years as a substitute host on a variety of shows: NBC's Later, E! Entertainment's Talk Soup and finally, guest hosting for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's Countdown. He joined NPR as a commentator on The Unger Report, which ran for 6 years on the station's Day to Day. Unger also guest-hosted NPR's Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me and now contributes to NPR's All Things Considered and the award-winning SoCal Connected on KCET. Unger also starred as the put-upon attorney and series regular on F/X's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and was recently seen hosting the H2 Channel's How the States Got Their Shapes. In 2014 Unger co-hosted the National Geographic Channel program "Showdown of the Unbeatables." Unger's latest show "Time Traveling With Brian Unger" airs on the Travel Channel. In it, Unger will take viewers to fascinating places most Americans don't know about.
Unger was born in Dayton, Ohio, and currently lives in Los Angeles.
