Thomas Lennon

Thomas Lennon is a comedian, actor, screenwriter, producer, and novelist whose career spans more than three decades in comedy, television, and film. Lennon attended Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he was a member of the sketch comedy group The State. The State's television series aired on MTV for three seasons and received an Ace Award nomination for best comedy series. Following his work on The State, Lennon and writing partner Robert Ben Garant created "Viva Variety," which also ran for three seasons and received an Ace nomination, and "Reno 911!," where Lennon portrayed Lieutenant Jim Dangle.

"Reno 911!" is a television sitcom created by Garant, Lennon, and Kerri Kenney-Silver for Comedy Central. The show is a mockumentary-style parody of law enforcement documentary programs, specifically Cops, featuring comic actors as police officers. Lennon co-created and co-wrote the series, which ran for six seasons on Comedy Central and was later revived on Quibi and Paramount+. Lennon also wrote and starred in the Emmy-nominated special "Reno 911!: The Hunt for QAnon." He has received two Primetime Emmy nominations for "Reno 911!" in the Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama, or Variety Series categories.

Lennon is recognized as a prolific comedy screenwriter in Hollywood. With Garant, he co-wrote the "Night at the Museum" films, "The Pacifier," "Balls of Fury," and "Baywatch." On IFC's list of The 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches of All Time, Lennon is credited as the author of four sketches: Monkey Torture, Porcupine Racetrack, Mind Match, and $240 Worth of Pudding. Lennon and Garant also co-authored "Writing Movies for Fun and Profit," a book about the studio system.

As an actor, Lennon has appeared in films including "Transformers: Age of Extinction," "The Dark Knight Rises," "Memento," "17 Again," "I Love You, Man," "Cedar Rapids," and "Bad Teacher." He has played Andrei Novak on "Santa Clarita Diet" and Felix Unger on "The Odd Couple." Lennon also starred in "Zoey 102" for Paramount+.

Lennon is the author of the "Ronan Boyle" children's fantasy series, which includes "Ronan Boyle and the Bridge of Riddles," "Ronan Boyle and the Swamp of Certain Death," and "Ronan Boyle into the Strangeplace." He is a New York Times bestselling author, with work spanning sketch comedy, feature films, television, and fiction. Lennon's contributions continue to influence American comedy, screenwriting, and children's literature.
