Temuera Morrison

Temuera Morrison is a New Zealand actor of Māori descent whose career spans more than four decades, encompassing domestic dramas and major international film franchises. Morrison first gained recognition in New Zealand for his role as Dr. Hone Ropata on the soap opera "Shortland Street." His film career was defined by his portrayal of Jake Heke in "Once Were Warriors" and its sequel, "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?" The role earned Morrison critical acclaim and awards for best male performance at the New Zealand Film and Television Awards and Best Actor at the New Zealand Film Awards.

Internationally, Morrison is known for his work in the Star Wars franchise, portraying Jango Fett and Boba Fett. His first appearance in the franchise was in "Attack of the Clones," where he played Jango Fett and provided the template for the clone troopers. Morrison also contributed voice work for Boba Fett in the DVD release of the original trilogy and voiced characters in various Star Wars video games. He is the only actor to portray both Jango and Boba Fett in the franchise. Morrison reprised the role of Boba Fett in "The Mandalorian" and starred in the spin-off series "The Book of Boba Fett," integrating elements of Māori culture into his performance.

Beyond Star Wars, Morrison voiced Chief Tui in Disney's animated film "Moana" and its adaptation in te reo Māori. He played Aquaman's father in the DC film "Aquaman" and appeared in additional entries in the franchise. Morrison also worked with director Lee Tamahori on "Mahana," based on Witi Ihimaera's novel Bulibasha, portraying Tamihana, the head of a family of competitive shearers.

Morrison has discussed challenges in his acting career, including periods of limited opportunities, but has continued to secure prominent roles. He played King Kahekili of Maui in the Apple TV+ historical series "Chief of War," which explores the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous perspective.
