Taz Skylar

Taz Skylar grew up in the Canary Islands, the son of a Lebanese/Sierra Leonese father and a British mother. He was kicked out of school at 15 and spent years traveling the world broke—surfing, sleeping in hostels and learning to handcraft surfboards. That journey led to him founding the largest surfboard company in Europe by the age of 19.

After selling the business, he moved to London to become a writer— despite never having written anything before. His first play was nominated for an Olivier Award at 22, while he was sleeping in a van parked outside the theatre.

Forced to act when he couldn’t afford enough cast members, he stepped into the role himself—and never looked back. That leap eventually led to him playing Sanji in Netflix’s global phenomenon "One Piece," followed by "Gassed Up," a feature he wrote and starred in, which won the Audience Award at the BFI London Film Festival. Skylar later led "Cleaner" opposite Clive Owen and Daisy Ridley, directed by James Bond veteran Martin Campbell.

Skylar wrapped season two of "One Piece" and is prepping for three new films. A lifelong lover of extreme sports and risk, he’s chased adrenaline from deserts to mountaintops, always searching for the next impossible thing.

A survivor of addiction, mental illness, rejection and chronic underestimation, Skylar is a living example of raw resilience. He credits his stability today to an obsessive commitment to movement—fitness, martial arts, extreme sports and the kind of wild adventure most people only read about.
