Ralph Macchio

Ralph Macchio is an actor best known for his role as Daniel LaRusso in the "Karate Kid" film series. This iconic role, which began with the original 1984 film, earned him widespread recognition and positioned him firmly within pop culture, and led to two sequels. In addition to these roles, Macchio co-executive produced and reprised his character Daniel LaRusso in the Netflix series "Cobra Kai," which debuted in 2018 and continued through 2025. He is also slated to continue his role in the upcoming "Karate Kid: Legends" set for release in 2025.

Prior to his fame from "The Karate Kid," Macchio gained attention for his role as Johnny Cade in Francis Ford Coppola’s "The Outsiders," a film adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel. His portrayal of the sensitive, troubled teenager showcased his acting range and set the stage for future leading roles. During the '80s and '90s, he also appeared in films such as "Crossroads" and "My Cousin Vinny." Macchio also starred in the 2012 film "Hitchcock."

Extending beyond acting, Macchio has also worked as a producer and director, including on the show "American Gypsies." In 2022, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a tribute acknowledged by his "Cobra Kai" co-stars for his lasting impact. In 2022, Macchio published his memoir, "Waxing On: The Karate Kid and Me," in which he reflects on the impact of the "Karate Kid" films and "Cobra Kai."
