Owen Cooper Biography
Owen Cooper is an English actor known for his debut performance as Jamie Miller in the Netflix miniseries "Adolescence." Selected from more than 500 candidates, Cooper portrayed a 13-year-old accused of murder, earning recognition for his naturalistic and emotionally nuanced performance. His work in "Adolescence" earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, making him the youngest male actor to receive a Primetime Emmy Award.
Before "Adolescence," Cooper had no professional acting experience and attended weekly drama classes at The Drama Mob in Manchester. His selection for the series, which was filmed with each episode in a single continuous take, marked a significant entry into the entertainment industry. Cooper also received the Gotham TV Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited Series and appeared in a music video by English musician Sam Fender.
Cooper has been cast as young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell's adaptation of "Wuthering Heights" and as Callum in the BBC series "Film Club."
