Capaldi made a highly emotional return to music in June 2025 with a surprise performance at the Glastonbury Festival. He debuted his new single, "Survive," which quickly reached the top of the UK Singles Chart. The song reflected his personal struggles and journey toward recovery. Following this, he embarked on a UK tour, performing new tracks alongside his classic hits. Of Scottish and Italian descent, Capaldi is also related to actor Peter Capaldi, his second cousin once removed, who appeared in the music video for "Someone You Loved." In his personal life, he has been in a relationship with Scottish actress Ellie MacDowall since 2023.
