Hamish Linklater

Hamish Linklater is an actor and playwright whose career encompasses stage, film, and television. The son of dramatic vocal trainer Kristin Linklater, he was raised in the theater community and began performing in Shakespeare & Company productions at age 9. Linklater graduated from Commonwealth School in Boston and attended Amherst College. He first established himself in theater before making his film debut in "Groove," an independent film that screened at the Sundance Film Festival.

Linklater has worked extensively on stage, performing in Off-Broadway productions such as "The School for Lies" (Obie Award), "Twelfth Night" (Drama Desk nomination), "The Merchant of Venice," and "The Winter's Tale," and as Laertes opposite Liev Schreiber in Hamlet. He made his Broadway debut in Theresa Rebeck's play "Seminar," earning a Theatre World Award for his role. As a playwright, his works "The Whirligig" and "The Vandal" have been produced internationally.

On television, Linklater has built a diverse résumé in both comedy and drama. He was a main cast member in the CBS sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine," playing the brother of Christine Campbell, portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. He has appeared in the historical baseball drama "42," the Aaron Sorkin series "The Newsroom," and the sitcom "The Crazy Ones" with Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Linklater held a recurring role in the FX series "Legion," based on the Marvel Comics character, and was promoted to the main cast for its second season. His television credits also include "Gaslit," "Angelyne," and "Fargo."

Linklater starred as Father Paul in the Netflix horror miniseries "Midnight Mass," earning a Critics Choice nomination for his performance. His film work includes a role in the Plan B feature "Nickel Boys," adapted from Colson Whitehead's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards. He appeared as Richard Warren in the comedy-horror series "Widow's Bay," receiving a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Linklater has also voiced the title character in the Prime Video animated series "Batman: Caped Crusader." His career spans classical theater, prestige television, and major studio films, establishing Linklater as a versatile actor in the entertainment industry.
