Forrie J. Smith

Forrie J. Smith is an actor, stuntman, and lifelong cowboy known for his work in Western television and film. Smith has a background deeply rooted in rodeo and horsemanship. His family was part of the rodeo community, with his grandfather participating in the early days of the sport and his mother working as a barrel racer. Smith himself began training and selling horses before the age of seven, competing in rodeos by age eight and riding bucking stock bareback by age eleven. He later represented Montana State University in rodeo on a scholarship.

Smith's entry into the entertainment industry was influenced by his early experiences with horses and rodeo. Inspired to become a stuntman after a childhood fall from his Shetland pony, he landed his first stunt role in the remake of "Stagecoach." His career expanded to include stunt and acting credits in productions such as "Rambo III," "Posse," "The Young Riders," and "Tombstone." Smith also competed with the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association, maintaining his connection to the rodeo world.

Smith's most recognized role came after working as a wrangler on Taylor Sheridan's film "Hell or High Water." Sheridan later cast Smith in "Yellowstone," where he portrays Lloyd Pierce. The character, a branded man at the Dutton Ranch, became a central figure in the series, serving as an experienced voice among the ranch crew. Smith appeared in more than 50 episodes of "Yellowstone," contributing to the show's SAG Award nomination and increasing his visibility in the Western genre.

Smith has discussed how "Yellowstone" allowed him to explore new aspects of his craft, including more emotionally complex performances. Beyond the series, he has appeared in films such as "Ride," "Outriding the Devil," "Flint," "At the End of the Santa Fe Trail," "Gunslingers," "Laws of Man," "Among Wolves," "Dead Man's Hand," and "By His Hand." His work continues to contribute to the popularity of Western film and television.

Outside of acting, Smith is involved in philanthropy, supporting organizations such as the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Shriners Children's Hospital, and Horses for Mental Health. He also participates in charity events like Cowboys Helping Cowboys. Smith remains dedicated to the cowboy lifestyle, spending time on his ranch in San Acacia, New Mexico, and maintaining his commitment to the traditions of Western culture.
