Elizabeth Jean Carroll is an American journalist, author, and advice columnist recognized for her "Ask E. Jean" column, which appeared in Elle magazine for more than two decades, establishing it as one of the longest-running advice columns in American publishing. In her book, "What Do We Need Men For?: A Modest Proposal," Carroll publicly accused Les Moonves and Donald Trump of sexual assault, allegations both Moonves and Trump denied. Carroll later filed a defamation and battery lawsuit against Trump in New York Supreme Court. A jury found Trump liable for defamation against Carroll, awarding her $83 million which is being sent to the Supreme Court. Carroll's work and legal actions have contributed to ongoing discussions in journalism, publishing, and the #MeToo movement.
