Dylan McDermott

Dylan McDermott is an American actor known for his work across television, film, and theater. McDermott studied drama at Fordham University and trained under method acting teacher Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse. He made his Broadway debut in Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues" and performed in "Golden Boy" at the Williamstown Theater Festival under the direction of Joanne Woodward. His film career began with a role in the Vietnam drama "Hamburger Hill," followed by an appearance in the ensemble film "Steel Magnolias" with Julia Roberts, Sally Field, and Shirley MacLaine. McDermott also appeared in the thriller "In the Line of Fire" opposite Clint Eastwood.

McDermott gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Bobby Donnell, the head of a Boston law firm, in David E. Kelley's legal drama "The Practice." The role earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and several additional award nominations. "The Practice" received 15 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. McDermott's performance contributed to the show's success and established him as a prominent figure in television drama.

After "The Practice," McDermott took on a variety of roles, including appearances in multiple seasons of FX's horror anthology "American Horror Story," where he played characters in the "Murder House," "Asylum," "Apocalypse," and "1984" installments. He starred in Netflix's limited series "Hollywood," which earned him a second Emmy nomination, and appeared in the feature film "King Richard." McDermott also portrayed narcotics crime lord Richard Wheatley on "Law & Order: Organized Crime," a role that was expanded due to its impact.
