Benjamin Bratt

Benjamin Bratt is an actor whose career spans more than three decades across film, television, and voice acting. Bratt earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and further developed his craft at the American Conservatory Theater. After early supporting roles in films such as "Demolition Man," "Clear and Present Danger," and "The River Wild," Bratt gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of NYPD Detective Reynaldo Curtis on the NBC drama series "Law & Order." Over four seasons and nearly 95 episodes, Bratt earned three American Latino Media Arts Awards, multiple Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Following "Law & Order," Bratt took on a range of film roles, including appearances in Steven Soderbergh's ensemble drama "Traffic," the romantic comedy "Miss Congeniality," and the biopic "Piñero," in which he portrayed Puerto Rican poet and playwright Miguel Piñero. His performance in "Piñero" earned him an American Latino Media Arts Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture and a Golden Globe nomination. Bratt also co-starred and co-produced "Follow Me Home," a film featured at the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival.

Bratt's television work includes starring as William Banks in the A&E drama "The Cleaner," portraying Dr. Jake Reilly on ABC's "Private Practice," playing Steve Navarro in "24: Live Another Day," and taking on the role of Jahil Rivera in the Fox musical drama "Star." Bratt also appeared in the Disney+ series "Andor" as Senator Bail Organa. His voice acting credits include Ernesto de la Cruz in Pixar's "Coco," which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, as well as roles in "Despicable Me 2" and the "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" franchise. In 2026, he was featured in Hulu's football drama "The Land."

In addition to his acting career, Bratt has contributed to social and cultural causes. He served as consulting producer on the documentary "Dolores," about civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, and co-executive produced "Wings of Dust," a documentary addressing water contamination in a Peruvian community. Bratt has been a longtime contributor to the American Indian College Fund and remains active in Native American advocacy. He has received the Rita Moreno Award for Excellence from the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors, reflecting his ongoing commitment to representation and advocacy in the entertainment industry.
