Detailed Biography of Lynne Russell
|
|
Lynne Russell was the prime-time weekday evening anchor for more than a decade on HEADLINE NEWS, CNN’s sister service that offers 24-hour news programming in updated, half-hour segments. Her past service with CNN includes 6 years as co-host of THE WEEK IN REVIEW with Bob Cain.
Russell was the first recipient of the St. Bonaventure University “Jandoli School of Journalism Award for Excellence in Responsible Journalism,” in 1993.
Before joining HEADLINE NEWS in 1983, Russell anchored the evening news on KENS-TV in San Antonio, where she also was investigative and courthouse reporter. She joined KENS-TV in 1980, after a year as a news anchor and military correspondent for KHON-TV in Honolulu.
From 1978 to 1979 Russell anchored and reported at WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, FL. Also, from 1971 to 1978 she was Program Director, as well as anchor and host, of a four-hour weekday morning news and interview program at WKAT-TALKRADIO in Miami.
Lynne Russell is a licensed private investigator who works as a detective about 10 hours a week. She also is a first degree black belt in Choi Kwang-Do, a bodyguard to visiting film stars and celebrities, and a Fulton County Deputy Sheriff in the Reserve division. She is the author of How to Win Friends, Kick Ass & Influence People.
She attended the University of Colorado, where she majored in Nursing. She is married and has a son.
