Actress, Intimacy Coordinator & Producer; Known for "Soaked in Bleach" & "The Artist"; SAG-AFTRA Advocate for Safe Sets
Sarah Scott Biography
Sarah Scott is an American actress, intimacy coordinator, and producer whose career encompasses television, film, and stage. With more than 50 screen credits, Scott has developed a career that spans acting, producing, and advocating for safe work environments in the entertainment industry. Her early experience includes acting in fringe theaters in New York City, interning at New Line Cinema, and completing the Shakespearean Studies program at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue professional acting.
Scott began her career in New York City's downtown theater scene before transitioning to on-screen work in Los Angeles. She gained early recognition in the commercial and dance sectors, including participation in the iPod silhouette campaign, and went on to guest star on television series such as "True Blood," "CSI: NY," "Castle," "Bones," "Masters of Sex," and "The Orville." Her breakout film role was as Courtney Love in the docudrama "Soaked in Bleach." She also appeared in the Academy Award-winning silent film "The Artist" and has led indie features including "Desperate Waters," for which she received multiple Best Actress awards at film festivals.
Scott became an active member of the entertainment community, raising awareness about sexual harassment and collaborating with SAG-AFTRA to improve contractual protections for performers. Certified through the Intimacy Professionals Association, she has contributed to defining best practices for intimacy coordination across studio productions, independent films, and streaming platforms. Scott works to create safe environments on film and television sets, advocating for actors by obtaining consent, assessing needs, clarifying riders, and ensuring closed set protocols. Her background as an actress and dancer informs her approach to supporting performers and choreographing intimate scenes.
Her intimacy coordinator credits include "The Madison" and "1923" on Paramount+, "Hacks," "I Love LA," and "Winning Time" on HBO, as well as "Rebel Moon," "You People," and "Lonely Planet" on Netflix. Her work is also featured in the documentary "Body Parts," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Scott serves on SAG-AFTRA's local and national committees for sexual harassment prevention and played a role in negotiating the union's first collective bargaining agreement for intimacy coordinators, establishing protections and standards for careers in film, television, and streaming.
In addition to her on-set work, Scott is an educator and public advocate who has taught masterclasses, spoken on panels, led workshops, and appeared on podcasts to promote awareness of intimacy coordination and its impact on the entertainment industry. As a member of the TIME'S UP Entertainment Working Group, she contributed to the Guide To Working in the Entertainment Industry and is an ambassador to Voices in Action. Scott's combined experience as a performer and intimacy coordinator positions her as a knowledgeable voice on artistry, consent, and workplace safety in Hollywood.
