Kevin Shinick Biography
Kevin Shinick is an Emmy Award-winning writer, producer, director, actor, and comic book creator with a diverse career in American entertainment. Shinick began as the host and Squadron Leader of the PBS series "Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego?" and later became an Emmy Award-winning writer, bestselling author, and comic book creator, as well as an actor, director, and Annie Award-winning producer. The PBS show led to appearances in teen magazines, trading cards, and an action figure.
Shinick's early stage work includes a role in Tony Randall's Broadway production of "The Seagull" alongside Ethan Hawke, Laura Linney, Tyne Daly, and Jon Voight. He also appeared in Broadway plays such as "Night Must Fall" with Matthew Broderick and the Tony-nominated productions of "Timon of Athens" and "Saint Joan."
Shinick is recognized for his work as a writer, producer, and voice actor on Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken" and for authoring the bestselling young adult novel "Star Wars: Force Collector." He has collaborated with George Lucas on "Star Wars: Detours," directed Stan Lee on "Marvel's Spider-Man," worked with KISS on "Scooby-Doo and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery," and contributed to "The Mike Tyson Mysteries." As Creative Director of "Robot Chicken," Shinick was also a writer and voice artist, earning an Emmy Award for writing on the show's "Full-Assed Christmas Special" and Annie Awards for "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II" and "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III."
Shinick created the animated sketch series "Mad" with Mark Marek, serving as producer and writer; the show ran for four seasons and received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program. He was a producer and writer for the Disney XD series "Spider-Man." Shinick is the only person to have written Spider-Man for comics, stage, and screen. He wrote and directed "Spider-Man Live!," a Broadway-style adaptation that played venues such as Radio City Music Hall and toured 40 U.S. cities, marking the first full-length live-action stage show based on the character.
Shinick has written for both Marvel and DC Comics, contributing to Batman, "Avenging Spider-Man," "The Flash," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Superior Spider-Man Team-Up," and creating new personas for "Superior Carnage" and "AXIS: Hobgoblin." In animation, Shinick voiced Bruce Banner in Marvel's animated universe and contributed voices to Comedy Central's Ugly Americans, Fox's The Cleveland Show, and NBC's Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas. Shinick has also portrayed Dick Clark in the biographical musical drama "Michael." His career spans Broadway, animation, comics, literature, and film, reflecting a broad range of experience in storytelling and creative production.
