Barnaby Marsh is the co-founder of Saint Partners, and has privately advised many of the world’s most generous individuals on how to achieve greater philanthropic impact. Barnaby is regarded as one of the world's most original philanthropy strategists. He has advised on over $2 billion in philanthropic giving, and over two hundred philanthropic projects around the world. He is known for his skill in structuring projects to generate cascades of downstream results and engagement, including follow-up funding from others. For many years, he worked with the late investing pioneer Sir John Templeton to develop novel approaches to philanthropy, and was a key leader in the development of the $3 billion John Templeton Foundation.

Barnaby's technical background is in complex risk assessment and optimization of decision strategies. He has held academic appointments at Oxford, Harvard, and the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. He recently co-authored a popular book, How Luck Happens (Dutton Penguin Random House, 2018) that helps to demystify the process by which successful people make great luck out of randomness and uncertainty. Barnaby holds an AB Summa cum laude from Cornell University, where he was a Cornell College Scholar, and a doctorate from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. In addition to his core passion of philanthropy design, he enjoys natural history travel, ornithology, architecture, art, and music.
