Lexie Bean Biography
Lexie Bean is a trans multimedia artist whose work addresses bodies, homes, cyclical violence, and queer identity. Bean is a Jerome Hill Artist Fellow, a member of the RAINN National Leadership Council, and a Lambda Literary Award finalist for "Written On The Body" as well as for advocacy with trans survivors of domestic violence. Bean has served as a speaker and facilitator at more than 100 events focused on these topics. Bean's experimental and animated shorts, including "Full," "Trans Boy Remember," and "The Ship We Built"—which was adapted into an award-winning novel published by Penguin Random House and developed into a feature-length film script—have been showcased at festivals internationally.
The film "A Scavenger Hunt For People Loneliest In Their Own Homes" was commissioned by Price Hill Will and premiered as Best Experimental Film at the Indie Short Awards Cannes. Bean's work has appeared in outlets such as Teen Vogue, The New York Times, Huffington Post, The Feminist Wire, Ms. Magazine, Them, Bust Magazine, and Autostraddle. Bean develops projects across film, literature, and advocacy, including the feature-length documentary "What Will I Become?" Bean has been recognized for ongoing contributions to LGBTQ+ arts and advocacy with invitations to keynote at major literary and survivor-focused conferences.
