Cédric Waldburger invests in early-stage technology companies through his venture capital firm Tomahawk.VC. He specifically tailors his investments to companies that think and act global-first from the very start. Waldburger himself has 12 years of experience working with decentralized teams and does not believe companies should miss out on the best talent from around the world by limiting themselves to one central location. Prior to launching his venture capitalist firm, he built companies in the agency, consumer and blockchain sector. Most recently, he co-founded DFINITY, the Silicon Valley unicorn producing the Internet Computer — a public blockchain network hosted by a collection of independent data centers around the world. It was valued at around USD 2 billion and received investments from world-renowned venture capitalists like Andreessen Horowitz. Previously, he built Sendtask.io, a company that operates with a completely remote team. Waldburger has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich and HKUST in Hong Kong. Waldburger shares his own experience with founders which he has gained over the last 18 years as an entrepreneur – especially in the area of building distributed teams worldwide.
Waldburger is an avid minimalist, has lived in Berlin, London, Hong Kong, New York, Miami and Palo Alto in recent years and owns only 64 things, all of which are black. Since he traveled so often and rarely stayed in a place for more than four days in a row, he gave up his apartment for more than three years and lived in AirBnbs, hotels and with friends. On YouTube he regularly vlogs about his life experiments and insights into his life as an investor.
