Chris August Biography
Christopher August Megert, known by his stage name Chris August, is a contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter known for his song "Starry Night."
August began recording as a secular musician before making the switch to Christian music. His song "Starry Night" reached #1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart in 2010/2011. In 2011, August won the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards for New Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.
When he was working in secular music and living in Los Angeles, August's manager was Jessica and Ashlee Simpson's father Joe Simpson. August helped with producing records for Brian McKnight and Jessica Simpson, in addition to playing keyboards for Ashlee Simpson on tour. He also opened for Ashlee while on tour with her. After his label contract renegotiations fell through, August moved back home to Texas.
While at home, August decided to stop working on secular projects and began to work solely on Christian music. August wrote the song "Starry Night" as a demo and he received a contract from Word Records. He recorded the album No Far Away in 2010 and "Starry Night" was released as a single that same year. No Far Away won the Dove Award for pop/contemporary album of the year and peaked at #15 on the Christian Albums charts and #9 on the Heatseeker Albums.
When "Starry Night" hit #1 on the Christian AC Monitored chart, it was the first debut single to reach #1 in over three years. August's second single was "7x70" which is a song about forgiveness following his parents' divorce when he was in the fifth grade.
August released his fourth studio album, Seasons, in 2018.
