Nardwuar vs. Lil Uzi Vert (2018)
Born John Ruskin in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on July 5, 1968, Nardwuar (yes, he later did legally change his name) got his start on college radio station CITR in Vancouver during the late '80s. From there, Nardwuar "graduated" to Canada's answer to MTV, MuchMusic, and eventually adopted his now trademark uniform including a tartan-patterned "tuque" (and later, matching trousers). Ever since, Nardwuar has conducted must-hear interviews with such notables as Nirvana, Gene Simmons, Snoop Dogg, Queens of the Stone Age, Sonic Youth, Hole, GWAR, Kelly Rowland, Marilyn Manson, Ian MacKaye, Jay-Z, Rob Halford, and countless others, signing off by saying "Keep on rockin' in the free world, and doot doola doot doo...," repeating the last bit until the interview subject is forced to complete it. Nardwuar has also found himself in several tense interviewing situations in which the interviewees (namely, Travis Barker, Henry Rollins, Geddy Lee, and Blur) seemed to get fed up with the Human Serviette. And on more than one occasion, interviewees have questioned the freshness of Nardwuar's breath -- Josh Homme going as far as saying Nardwuar's breath smelled like "the ass of an apple." Many of Nardwuar's standout interviews have been compiled on a pair of DVDs, 2006's Nardwuar the Human Serviette: Doot Doola Doot Doo...Doot Doo and 2007's Welcome to My Castle!, and are also available for streaming on his official site. In addition to his interview talents, Nardwuar is a member of the indie rock band the Evaporators, for whom he is the vocalist and keyboardist.
