Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh is a Canadian-American actress best known for her starring roles as Cristina Yang on the ABC medical drama series "Grey's Anatomy" and Eve Polastri in the BBC America spy thriller series "Killing Eve." Her performances on these series have earned her numerous accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a record-setting thirteen Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Oh's groundbreaking career includes becoming the first actress of Asian descent to be nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and the first Asian woman to win two Golden Globes. She has also had notable roles in films such as "Bean," "Last Night," "The Princess Diaries," "Sideways," and "Rabbit Hole."

In addition to her work in live-action film and television, Oh has lent her voice to various animated shows and films, including roles in the superhero series "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" and the Pixar film "Turning Red." Her diverse filmography also includes performances in Canadian films like "Double Happiness," for which she won the Genie Award for Best Actress. She also served as executive producer and took the lead role in the Netflix comedy-drama series "The Chair" in 2021.

Over the years, Oh has broken barriers and made history in numerous ways. She hosted the 28th Genie Awards in 2008 and became the first-ever Asian woman to host the Golden Globe Awards at the 76th ceremony in 2019. In 2019, Time magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She was awarded the Key to the City of Ottawa in 2013 and the National Arts Centre Award from the Governor General of Canada in 2019. She was also named an Officer of the Order of Canada in June 2022.

Off-screen, Oh is known for her activism. She gave a poignant speech at a Stop Asian Hate rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2021, encouraging people to reach out to the Asian American community. As a testament to her multicultural identity, she referred to herself as an "Asian-Canadian-American" while hosting "Saturday Night Live," celebrating her U.S. citizenship which she acquired in 2018.
