Sam Worthington

Sam Worthington is an Australian actor renowned for his dynamic performances in both blockbuster films and critically acclaimed productions.

Worthington trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. His early career included leading roles in Australian films, where he garnered significant attention. In 2004, he won Australia's highest film honor, the AACTA Award for Best Actor, for his standout performance in "Somersault." He went on to win the AACTA Award for Best Actor on two more occasions, for his roles in "Bootmen" (2000) and "Avatar" (2009).

Worthington's international breakthrough came in 2009 when he starred as Jake Sully in James Cameron's groundbreaking science-fiction epic "Avatar." The film became the highest-grossing film of all time, grossing over US$2.730 billion worldwide. Worthington reprised his iconic role in the 2022 sequel, "Avatar: The Way of Water," which became the highest-grossing film of 2022 and the third-highest-grossing film in history. Beyond "Avatar", he has appeared in a wide range of films, including "Terminator Salvation", where he played Marcus Wright, and "Clash of the Titans" and its sequel "Wrath of the Titans", where he portrayed Perseus. Other notable projects include "The Debt", "Everest", "Hacksaw Ridge", "The Shack", and "Manhunt".

In addition to his film career, Worthington has made significant contributions to television. He gained recognition in Australia for his role as Howard in the critically acclaimed series "Love My Way." He also starred in and executive produced the mini-series "Deadline Gallipoli" and received praise for his performance in "Under the Banner of Heaven", earning a Satellite Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film. Beyond acting, Worthington has also ventured into voice work, notably providing the voice for Captain Alex Mason in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" video game series.

Looking to the future, Worthington continues to expand his filmography. He is set to appear in the western-drama series "Horizon: An American Saga", directed by Kevin Costner, and has roles in the films "Alphas" and "Fuze". He is also involved in the sci-fi thriller "Hello Stranger", alongside Simu Liu and Robbie Amell.
